Map any time, any where, online with Google Earth Engine Online

Google Earth Engine (GEE) is a cloud-based software that hosts free satellite imagery layers which you can use for mapping the world over decades. In this session, we will have an overview of GEE and remote sensing, how to use the platform's javascript coding environment to add and manipulate imagery over Peterborough, and create map imagery and videos spanning back over 40 years! After that, easily transfer your workflow to another location anywhere on planet Earth and see what it looks like over there! If you have more questions or want to talk about the platform further, please feel free to ask us after the workshop or contact us at madgichelp@trentu.ca

GEE requires a Google account (Gmail) and a registration request to use. You can watch the presentation to understand how GEE works and its potential utility, but if you want to follow along you will need an account. Note that as of 2024, accounts were being manually verified and access may not be granted for a few days. Google accounts that are new or not used often are more likely to take longer to be verified. You can sign up for an account here: https://earthengine.google.com

No prior experience is required; a basic knowledge of coding and/or satellite imagery would be an asset.
